**Elin Norén (Social Democrats) holds the strongest position as the incumbent Regionstyrelsens ordförande since 2022, heading the "Samling För Dalarna" coalition of Social Democrats, Centre Party, Christian Democrats, and Dalarna Healthcare Party that controls a majority of seats in the regional council.** She tops her party's candidate lists for the September 13, 2026 elections, giving her a clear path to re-election as chair if current seat distributions hold or improve modestly. Recent Novus polling from May 2026 shows the Social Democrats gaining ground locally while the governing coalition faces some erosion, yet Norén's established role in budget, regional development strategy, and cross-party coordination underpins trader consensus around her continued leadership. Sofia Jarl (Centre Party), serving as first deputy chair, and Kent Ekeroth (Sweden Democrats), an opposition figure, register far lower implied probabilities, consistent with their parties' current standing and limited shifts in local polling trends. No major scandals, leadership changes, or coalition realignments have emerged in the past several months to alter these dynamics ahead of the vote. The market reflects skin-in-the-game assessment of continuity under the existing governing framework.
