The crowded field of 15 registered candidates for the October 4, 2026, Trujillo mayoral election has produced a fragmented contest with no dominant frontrunner, keeping implied probabilities tightly clustered among the leading contenders. Recent mid-August polls show incumbent Mario Reyna Rodríguez (APP) ahead in raw preferences, yet trader pricing assigns a narrow edge to Víctor Robert De La Cruz Rosas (Podemos Perú) amid uncertainty over vote splitting and turnout. The large number of minor candidates, including regional figures and party representatives, reinforces the competitive dynamics, with separation likely hinging on final-week campaigning, any late endorsements, or shifts in local issue salience ahead of election day.
