Princess Faku, the incumbent ANC mayor of Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality since 2023, leads trader pricing at 69.5% ahead of November 2026 local government elections. ANC internal processes have short-listed her alongside Nocawe Mafu, Simphiwe Dzengwa and Ncedo Kumbaca for the party nomination, while recent by-elections showed the ANC retaining key wards despite opposition challenges from the Patriotic Alliance and others. Faku’s reshuffle of the mayoral committee and focus on service delivery, revenue collection and infrastructure reforms reinforce her position, though SIU investigations into prior tender issues and regional leadership contests introduce uncertainty. Lower-priced candidates such as Simphiwe Dzengwa (13%) and Ncedo Kumbaca (9%) reflect their short-list status, with UDM’s Nqabayomzi Kwankwa at 0.4% as an opposition contender in an ANC-dominant metro.
