Recent polls from late August 2026 consistently place the AfD at 40-42% in Sachsen-Anhalt, roughly double its 2021 result and 18-20 points ahead of the governing CDU at 22-23%, with the Left, SPD, and Greens trailing further behind. This sustained lead, measured days before the September 6 Landtag election, underpins trader consensus that the AfD will finish first. Other parties show limited movement, and roughly 30% of voters remain undecided, yet the scale of the gap limits realistic paths for any challenger to overtake. While AfD support remains short of an absolute majority and coalition barriers persist, these factors do not alter the probability of it emerging as the largest party by seat count.
