This cooling stems from increased southwesterly flow, cloud cover, and possible showers, contrasting with climatological late-August averages of 95–104°F. Large diurnal swings of 30–40°F, typical of high-desert conditions, plus uncertainty in frontal timing and model spreads around intensification or redevelopment of heat, produce the even distribution across temperature bins. Official NOAA guidance and updated model runs over the next 48 hours will clarify whether any rebound above 95°F occurs before event close.
