Official National Weather Service forecasts and model consensus point to a San Francisco high near the 70°F seasonal norm on September 6, driven by the typical early-fall marine layer that moderates coastal temperatures through onshore flow and afternoon cooling. Recent observations from September 1–5 showed daily highs of 68–71°F at downtown and airport stations, aligning with the 1991–2020 average of 70.2°F and keeping probabilities concentrated in the 70–71°F bin. Stronger warming would require a significant offshore wind shift or ridge buildup, neither of which current guidance supports before resolution.
