Recent National Weather Service and model guidance point to overnight lows in the mid-70s for Los Angeles on September 9 amid a regional heat wave, with daytime highs forecast near 89–98 °F and minimal marine-layer cooling. These elevated minima reflect reduced onshore flow, clear skies, and urban heat retention that limit radiative cooling, pushing the daily low well above the 1991–2020 average of 64 °F. Trader emphasis on the 82 °F-or-higher bucket alongside 74–75 °F reflects uncertainty in exact minimum timing and station-specific readings, while lower-probability 60s outcomes align with historical September records but lack support from current observations. Updated model runs and official minimum reports on September 10 will provide the primary resolution data.
