This market will resolve to “Yes” if Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Lula) participates in a televised Brazilian presidential debate by October 3, 2026, 11:59 PM Brasilia time. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. To qualify, Lula must speak at least once in a debate with at least one other registered Brazilian presidential candidate present, televised live. Virtual live participation will qualify. Prerecorded appearances will not qualify. The primary resolution source for this market will be footage of the debate, however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.Lula’s campaign cited unequal conditions and the risk of becoming the primary target in a multi-candidate format as reasons for skipping the August 23 Band debate, the first of the 2026 presidential cycle. With Flávio Bolsonaro also absent, the event proceeded with only three participants, drawing criticism from rivals and highlighting strategic caution by frontrunners. Upcoming debates on September 14, September 27, and October 1 remain available before the first-round vote on October 4, yet Lula’s team has signaled possible focus on the final Globo event. This mix of confirmed absences, selective participation signals, and a tight polling race between Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro sustains the closely balanced trader consensus reflected in current pricing.
