Lula's entrenched support across Brazil's Northeast, including Rio Grande do Norte, anchors trader consensus at 96% for first place in the state's first-round presidential vote. Recent Quaest polling conducted August 20-23 shows the incumbent president at 54-56% in the state against Flávio Bolsonaro at 19-20%, with all other listed candidates at 2% or below amid roughly 20% undecided or blank responses. This aligns with Lula's broader regional dominance in the Northeast, where PT-aligned social policies and party infrastructure have historically sustained high vote shares. The election timeline features the start of free electoral broadcasts on August 28 and the first round on October 4, leaving limited room for major shifts absent unforeseen events such as health developments, major scandals, or unexpected opposition consolidation that could erode the current double-digit margins.
