The competitive race for second place in Goiás’s two-seat Senate contest reflects a fragmented field of more than a dozen registered candidates, high undecided shares near 30 percent in recent surveys, and voter ability to select up to two names. Latest polling from mid-August shows Gustavo Gayer (PL) holding the clearest edge among challengers, followed closely by incumbent Vanderlan Cardoso (PSD), Dr. Zacharias Calil (MDB), and Gustavo Mendanha (PRD), all within or near margins of error. Gracinha Caiado (União) remains the clear leader for one seat, leaving the second highly sensitive to late shifts in turnout, regional alliances, and campaign momentum ahead of the October 4 vote.
