Lula’s commanding position in Bahia’s first-round presidential vote stems from the state’s longstanding PT alignment in the Northeast, reinforced by consistent polling leads of around 50% against Flávio Bolsonaro’s 16-17% in late-August Quaest surveys. Recent campaign stops in Salvador highlighted federal infrastructure investments under the PAC and education initiatives, aligning with local PT priorities ahead of the October 4 ballot. High voter commitment—77% report finalized choices—further entrenches the frontrunner. A late scandal, sharp national economic reversal, or unexpected surge by a unified opposition ticket could narrow margins, though historical patterns and current surveys indicate limited scope for such shifts within the remaining weeks.
